Ballast for a flat roof

Choose the place (roof or ground), the roof zone, the number of panels, the tilt and the supports — the calculator shows how much ballast stops uplift and sliding and whether the chosen blocks are enough.

Needed against uplift1,672 kg
Needed against sliding2,759 kg
The chosen supports give516 kg

Not enough ballast — add a layer or heavier blocks

How it is calculated

The wind force on a row is the force coefficient of a tilted plane × peak pressure × area; the required mass uses factors of 1.5 on wind and 0.9 on self-weight, and for sliding a friction of 0.45 on a roof. Roof zone: middle ×1, edge ×1.5, corner ×2.

The calculation is preliminary. A qualified engineer must check it before installation. Codes: DBN V.1.2-2:2006 (Ukraine) and the Eurocode; for other countries — snow and wind values from the national annex, entered by hand.
