Satellite and shade in 3D
Show the client the plant on their own plot: 3D on satellite imagery with nearby buildings, trees and the sun’s path — and work out how much energy shade takes over a year.
Ground frame designer
Design the ground frame for your solar plant
Solispec picks the profiles and posts, checks the frame against snow and wind to the DBN and prices it down to the last bolt.
What it is
The 3D map tab places the array on a base layer: Esri satellite, a regular map, Mapbox satellite with your own token or your own image. «Nearby buildings» loads buildings and trees within 160 m from OpenStreetMap, and their heights can be corrected. Add obstacles — a tree, a house, a wall or a pole — pick a date and time to see the shade, and the yearly loss calculation takes it into the yield, savings and payback.

How to use it
- 01
Find the site by address in the «Site» card and open the 3D map.
- 02
Choose the Esri satellite base layer, turn on nearby buildings and add obstacles the map does not have.
- 03
Press the yearly loss button: the losses by month appear under the 3D view, and the yield and payback are recalculated with the shade.
Why it matters to an installer
Shade from a tree or the house next door can take a noticeable share of the yield — better to know before the installation than after. The client sees their own plot rather than an abstract diagram and agrees more easily.
Start and the paid plans
On Start the 3D is a schematic: the array on plain ground or the regular map, your obstacles, the sun and the shade on a chosen day and time. The satellite base layer (Esri, Mapbox), your own image, nearby buildings and trees from OpenStreetMap, the yearly shade loss in the yield and the satellite layer of the 2D map come with Pro, Business and White Label.
| Feature | Start | Pro | Business | White Label |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3D | schematic | satellite, nearby buildings, shade all year | satellite, nearby buildings, shade all year | satellite, nearby buildings, shade all year |
